As always, Mac and PC fans rabidly defend their favorite OS all over the internet.  I usually prefer to stay out of it, but at this Reddit.com entry I found the latest and funniest salvo from an apparent PC fan.

Mac vs. PC

The comments page (warning: NSFW language) has several entries worthy of Comedy Gold.

A Linux fan wants a piece of the action with this comment:

Out of the frame:
Linux, barefoot, holding a Japanese bow, and slowly approaching.
From stage right.

A Mac fan wants to flip the script:

I think PC is taking some time to load.

But it seems a PC fan has the last laugh:

Mac sits with a grimace on his face watching PC play fun shooting games.

There’s no doubt about it: the Notepad application on Windows that you use to view the odd TXT or XML files is sorely lacking in features and usability.

Then along comes Notepad++, a free lightweight open source text editor I now can’t do without (links below). This app can neatly display and organize pretty much any source code you throw at it. Perfect when you have to manually edit Dynamics CRM customization XML files, like the isv_config.xml sitemap.

If you’re using any of the CRM Virtual PC images graciously provided by Microsoft, you’ll notice the neat Dynamics CRM wallpapers in the background. I figured they’d be very nice and professional to have, especially if you give CRM-related presentations off of a projector.

For your pleasure, I’ve posted them to download below. Both wallpapers are in a standard 1024 x 768 pixel resolutions. Enjoy!

Support IssuesAccording to Guyriddle, the latest Update Rollup 3 for CRM 3.0 was withdrawn from its Microsoft Knowledge Base article website (KB #935364) due to “a regression discovered in one of the included fixes”.

Apparently there was a flawed hotfix in the Update Rollup 3 package that may prevent users from accessing Service Activity record information. This flawed hotfix is related to other hotfixes included in the package, which is likely why the Microsoft Sustained Engineering Team pulled it from the website today.

I will post to this blog as soon as this issue is resolved and after the Update Rollup has been reposted for download. The full excerpt can be found below.

This is one of the neatest improvements to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, especially for all remote users. With the Internet Facing Deployment (IFD) mode configured on a CRM server, remote users can now access CRM within their Outlook without the requirement of a VPN connection back to the office.

Navin at the Microsoft CRM Team Blog did a great job fully explaining the configuration of the CRM Outlook Client for Internet Facing Deployment mode in CRM 4.0. The full except can be found below, or you can go directly to the article here.
