Dynamics CRM 4.0 – Update Rollup 1 now available for download (KB 952858)

The latest hotfixes that address several issues in Dynamics CRM 4.0 were “rolled up” and made available into one downloadable package, christened as Update Rollup 1.  The full list of hotfixes in this package is shown below, and you can go to the KB #952858 article for the full details.

Some key points to be aware of:

  • Some of the hotfixes will have to be manually configured or enabled.
  • Customization XML files that were generated before the Rollup 1 installation may not be compatible and are not recommended for uploading after the installation.
  • You may have to restart your CRM app server after applying this Rollup, so it may be smarter to wait until after hours to not disrupt any work by your users.

Overview
Microsoft has released Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server, Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook, and Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 E-mail Router.

To maintain parity between the client and server components of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, this update rollup includes packages for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server and Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 1 information about export and import of customizations

When customizations are exported from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server, importing the customizations to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Server is not recommended in either of the following scenarios:

The server from which you are exporting customizations does not have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 1 installed, but the server to which you are importing the customizations has Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. Update Rollup 1 installed.

The server from which you are exporting customizations has Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 1 installed, but the server to which you are importing the customizations does not have Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 1 installed.

Hotfixes and updates that you have to manually enable or configure

Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Update Rollup 1 contains hotfixes and updates that you must manually enable or configure.
