NOTE: This article was published for the release candidate version. The final version of Mobile Express can be downloaded at this link.
The mobile version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM is finally here! See below for the relevant download links.
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile Express – Homepage [microsoft.com]
- Mobile Express for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 i386 [microsoft.com]
- Administration and User Guide for Mobile Express for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4 [microsoft.com]
The administration page in CRM for this mobile solution looks really easy to manage. All you need to do is browse to Settings, then Mobile Configuration. Some things you can do here:
- Entities can be added and removed from the list of available entities by selecting the entity and clicking the relevant button.
- Entities can be assigned as Read Only or Editable.
- Choose the fields that are available for viewing.
- Publish the changes.
The entities supported in this solution are:
• Custom Entities (this is a big one!)
• Invoice Product
• Account
• Lead
• Annotation
• Letter
• Address
• Marketing List
• Appointment
• Opportunity
• Case
• Order
• Campaign
• Order Product
• Contact
• Phone Call
• Competitor
• Quote
• E-mail
• Quote Product
• Fax
• Task
• Invoice
• User
Some other screenshots are below. I’ll give this accelerator a go this week. Let me know your thoughts if you’ve tried it already!

I have used it a couple of times now with mostly positive results. On our server it has some issues pulling an account and contact list, we haven’t taken the time to figure out what the problem is though. We figured we would wait until it was released and/or supported.
Your Admin and User Guide link for Mobile Express
https://connect.microsoft.com/Downloads/DownloadDetails.aspx?SiteID=624&DownloadID=16536
is incorrect. It takes one to the Mobile Express (product) download site.
Dean,
Thanks for the link feedback, but it works fine for me. You may have to log into the MS Connect website first before clicking on the link so that it can route you properly.

The only problem with the Mobile Express is that it only works with the Online-only web-based CRM solution which means your phone will need to be connected to the internet all the time.
And to have an online/offline access you will have to write your own mobile crm application with an remote import/export routines or use 3rd party components to run it offline!
Very interested in this as my company is putting in CRM this summer. Any ideas as to cost of Mobile Express? We will be using web version of CRM 4.0.
Thanks

This is a bit out of date. The method to get to the Mobile Express Configuration is now Settings | Customization | Customize Mobile Express. In addition, there does not appear to be in a final version any ability to set Read-Only
Semih,
Thanks for your feedback. This article was published when the RC version was released, so much has changed since then.
