Microsoft has recently released Release Candidate 1 for download! Neowin.net outlines the new features:
- Faster: Internet Explorer 8 is more responsive with new pages and tabs, opening up fast and reliably. You can now get to the information you care about most, in fewer steps; one click access to your webmail, favorite news sites or other online services.
- Easier: Reduce the steps to accomplish many common tasks, and automate your access to real time information updates. You can keep track of your favorite sports team, news, weather with a single click.
- More Private: Helps protect your privacy and confidential information where ever you go on the web.
- More Secure: Helps protect and stop malicious software from reaching your PC, and makes it easier to detect when a website is an imposter.

After my RC1 installation, it required a reboot. At first impression, browsing websites really do seem a bit snappier than IE8 Beta.
More importantly though… as a Microsoft CRM Consultant, I’m wondering if the previous IE Beta issue with workflows has been addressed. I haven’t yet had time to test its compatibility with CRM, so be sure to post your findings in the comment section!
Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Administrator, CRM 3.0, CRM 4.0, Developer, Downloads, General Users, Support September 2nd, 2008
Lately the big news in the browser world is that Microsoft recently released beta version 2 of Internet Explorer. Since it’s still in its beta version, there’s bound to be some applications and websites that it does not yet support. Unfortunately, that includes Microsoft Dynamics CRM (for now).
Martin Jenson of the Dynamics CRM Team recommends that CRM users “do not install Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 on any machine used to access any version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.”
In conclusion, the better scenario right now is to wait until Internet Explorer 8 goes RTM (Release To Market), after Microsoft has ironed out the compatibility issues.
UPDATE: My installed version of IE8 Beta 2 renders CRM 4.0 just fine on my workstation. See below for a screenshot of the Settings page.
If you’re looking to test out IE8 Beta 2 yourself, you can download the installer at this link:
